A passion for color defines the designs of color artist Jane Davies. About her work, which spotlights complementary and contrasting colors, Jane says, “It’s not about depicting the object but rather putting colors together in a way that makes them speak to one another. To me, objects are in part an excuse for color.” From early on, she has decorated, enhanced and punched up those objects in vivid color.

Jane’s creativity extends to writing. She is the author of three books, “A Glaze of Color: Creating Color and Design on Ceramics” and “Collage With Color” (both published by Watson-Guptill), as well as a book about making memories through collage to be published this year.

Jane’s home and studio are in Rupert, a small hamlet outside of Manchester, Vermont. “I love the peacefulness of my home and the small community of great friends and neighbors,” she says. “The area is so quiet and rural, it gives me plenty of space to reflect, create and grow as an artist.”

Jane Davies licenses her designs to prominent manufacturers across a broad range of product lines that include tabletop collections with Department 56 and Certified International, fabric collections with Free Spirit and Chanteclaire Fabrics, and garden collections with Santa Barbara Ceramic Designs, Toland and many others.
